In a significant push for sustainable business practices, the Africa Hub, led by Hervé Lado, PhD, recently convened a successful mission in Uganda alongside participants of the United Nations Global Compact. This pivotal meeting brought together 40 highly engaged stakeholders and the Federation of Uganda Employers to explore effective strategies for embedding Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in Uganda's private sector.
The Global Compact Network Kenya (GCNK) has been supporting Ugandan participants since the beginning of 2024, demonstrating its commitment to promoting RBC beyond Kenya's borders. This initiative aims to deepen engagement among existing members and expand the movement of companies dedicated to upholding the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
Key Outcomes:
The success of this mission was made possible through the pioneering work of the Steering Committee, led by Engineer Martin Kasekende and Trevor Ariho. Special thanks are also extended to Klaus Lehn Christensen, representing Danish Industry, for his invaluable thought leadership.
By promoting responsible business practices, Ugandan business leaders are paving the way for a more sustainable future, aligned with the UN Global Compact's principles on human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption.
