Ugandan Business Leaders Unite for Responsible Business Conduct
Scaling Up Sustainable Practices in East Africa through UN Global Compact
In a significant push for sustainable business practices, the Africa Hub, led by Hervé Lado, PhD, recently convened a successful mission in Uganda alongside participants of the United Nations Global Compact. This pivotal meeting brought together 40 highly engaged stakeholders and the Federation of Uganda Employers to explore effective strategies for embedding Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in Uganda's private sector.
The Global Compact Network Kenya (GCNK) has been supporting Ugandan participants since the beginning of 2024, demonstrating its commitment to promoting RBC beyond Kenya's borders. This initiative aims to deepen engagement among existing members and expand the movement of companies dedicated to upholding the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
Key Outcomes:
- Reaffirming Commitment: Participants reaffirmed their dedication to the UN Global Compact initiative.
- Strategic Discussions: Stakeholders explored effective strategies for entrenching RBC in Uganda's private sector.
- Collaboration: The meeting fostered collaboration among businesses, organizations, and thought leaders.
