The Compact Dialogues on the SDGs

Global Compact Network South Africa (GCNSA) recently hosted The Compact Dialogues on the SDGs, a virtual event that brought together business leaders and industry experts to share their progress and strategies for accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event, held on 7 June 2024, marked the launch of the Forward Faster Initiative in South Africa. Forward Faster is a global effort to catalyze accelerated action among companies worldwide towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the event, GCNSA engaged the private sector on the urgency and importance of taking ambitious action towards achieving the SDGs. It featured a panel of speakers from participating companies, including Ms. Ilze Roux, Corporate Affairs Executive at Bidvest, and Ms. Sharon Kekana, Responsible Business Manager (Environment) at Datatec Limited. The speakers shared practical examples and methodologies on how they are approaching the Forward Faster targets on gender equality and climate change.

Dr Achieng Ojwang, Executive Director of the GCNSA, also called on companies to commit to concrete, time-bound actions aligned with the Forward Faster principles, fostering a collective drive towards sustainable development.
