Ivorian Company SIFCA Group Joins the UN Global Compact, Commits to Strengthening Private Sector Leadership on the SDGs

The SIFCA Group, a leading Ivorian agro-industrial group active in palm oil, rubber and sugar and present in many countries in West Africa, has officially joined the initiative as a participating company. This commitment, formalized on 22 January 2026, underscores a significant and growing momentum within Côte d'Ivoire’s private sector to align business strategies with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SIFCA’s membership reflects its dedication to integrating sustainability at its core. "We are working to reconcile economic performance, environmental preservation and positive social impact," said Henriette Billon, the Group's Director of Communication and Sustainable Development. Alassane Doumbia, Chairman of the Board, added, "This membership reflects our commitment to strengthening our responsible practices and actively contributing to sustainable solutions." Operating with 33,000 employees, SIFCA’s pledge is a powerful example of how major African corporates can drive tangible progress for people and planet.

This step marks a key milestone in the rapid development of the Global Compact network in Côte d'Ivoire. Since its national launch in October 2023, membership has grown from five to about forty companies, paving the way for the official establishment of a Global Compact Country Network Côte d'Ivoire in 2026. "Integrating sustainability into corporate strategy is a wise economic choice," stated Hélène N’Garnim-Ganga, UN Resident Coordinator in Côte d'Ivoire. "The commitment of companies like SIFCA shows the Ivorian private sector can play a key role in achieving the SDGs."

Dominique Kadja, Country Manager, UN Global Compact in Côte d'Ivoire, welcomes the SIFCA Group, which joins other companies that are committed to advancing private sector ownership in attaining the SDGs in the country. "This membership will offer the SIFCA Group a structuring framework to strengthen its sustainability management, communicate transparently on its progress, and actively contribute to the advocacy and transformation initiatives led by the network."

Through this membership, SIFCA gains access to the platform of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative for best practices, capacity building via the Global Compact’s Academy, Accelerators and events, and for collective action to advance sustainable development across the continent.
