UN Global Compact Network Egypt Concludes First Cohort of Bloom with Purpose Program on Women Leadership
On 10 February 2026, the UN Global Compact Network Egypt (UNGCNE) marked a major milestone with the closing ceremony of the first cohort of Bloom with Purpose, its flagship Women’s Leadership Program. The event celebrated the graduation of 50 high-potential women leaders who successfully completed the 12-week transformational journey designed to advance gender equality in Egypt’s private sector.
Launched in 2025, in partnership with the International Academy for Advanced Research and Studies (IARS) – London, and certified by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in the United Kingdom, the program equips women in middle management with strategic leadership capabilities, emotional intelligence, and decision-making skills essential for senior executive roles. Fully funded for the inaugural cohort, the initiative reflects UNGCNE’s commitment to advancing SDG 5 (Gender Equality), the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, Egypt’s Vision 2030, and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women.
Throughout the program, 50 women from 27 UNGC participating companies engaged in an intensive curriculum spanning fearless leadership, inclusive management, unconscious bias, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, productivity and mentoring. The holistic approach combined practical training with global thought leadership, preparing participants to drive sustainable transformation within their organizations.
The closing ceremony opened with remarks by Ms. Walaa El-Husseiny, Executive Director/CEO of the UN Global Compact Network Egypt, reaffirming the Network’s mission to bridge the gender leadership gap and strengthen inclusive business ecosystem.

“When we first envisioned this program, we asked ourselves what skills truly matter, which modules would create real impact, and how we could design a journey that would make a difference. That vision became Bloom with Purpose. At its heart was one belief: to empower women’s leadership and help make it shine. We didn’t want to create just another training; we wanted a program, internationally recognized and certified from an institution that reflects real excellence,” she said.
The initiative was brought to life with the support of Tatweer Misr (Country Network board member and participant of the Global Compact) as the main partner, alongside Platinum Partners Contact Insurance Brokerage and MBG Developments. Their commitment underscores a shared recognition that empowering women in leadership is central to building resilient organizations and competitive markets.
Dr. Ahmed Shalaby, President & CEO of Tatweer Misr, Board of Directors Member at UNGCNE, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Housing, Public Utilities and Urban Development Committee, averred that
“We believe that building sustainable communities begins with empowering people and strengthening their role in society. We demonstrate our strategic commitment to education, capacity building, and women’s empowerment as key pillars of holistic development. Our collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network Egypt to launch the ‘Bloom with Purpose’ program reflects this commitment and reinforces our belief in enabling women in the private sector and providing them opportunities to excel in leadership roles. Women’s empowerment is not only central to our CSR efforts but also a cornerstone of our strategy to achieve sustainable development and create a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous future for Egypt.”

As the first program of its kind in the Middle East to receive CMI certification under this framework,
Bloom with Purpose sets a new benchmark for leadership development in the region. By investing in women’s advancement, UNGCNE continues to strengthen private sector engagement in sustainable development and foster a more equitable, inclusive and future-ready business community in Egypt.
