Mediterranean Decarbonization Forum 2024

The
United Nations Global Compact Tunisia played a key role in the Mediterranean Decarbonization Forum, held on September 24 and 25, 2024, in Tunis. This forum, organized by the
National Agency for Energy Management (ANME)
under the patronage of the Prime Minister, brought together over
2,300 Tunisian and international participants, including representatives from public agencies, the private sector, and international institutions.
Contribution of the UN Global Compact Network Tunisia
- Side Event: "Race to Zero & UN Global Compact - Businesses Leading Transition" A session organized by the UN Global Compact Network Tunisia in collaboration with Race to Zero brought together businesses to discuss climate transition, the challenges faced, and innovative solutions.
- Interventions by the Network President Mr. Sami Marrouki, President of the UN Global Compact Network Tunisia, led three sessions: on energy efficiency and renewable energies, the crucial role of research and development in decarbonization, and a closing session where the forum's final recommendations were presented.
- Signing of a Convention: The network facilitated collaboration between ANME and the Race to Zero initiative and coordinated the signing of a convention aimed at promoting innovative decarbonization solutions in Tunisia.
In numbers, the forum included 9 round tables, 5 workshops, 55 panelists, 150 experts, participation from 10 national associations and organizations, support from 6 local and international bodies, and collaboration with 5 media partners.
The next edition will be held in
Algeria in October 2025.
